Study Destination · Thailand

ASEAN access. Low cost. English programmes. Southeast Asian lifestyle.

Thailand is the most affordable English-medium study destination in ZSR's portfolio. Tuition starts at THB 60,000–80,000 per year (approximately £1,400–£1,800) for English-taught programmes at accredited Thai universities. For Nigerian students whose primary objective is an internationally recognised undergraduate degree at the absolute lowest feasible cost, Thailand is a legitimate and underutilised option.

✓THB 60K–250K/yr tuition — the most affordable English-taught option in the ZSR network.
✓ASEAN access — Thai degree recognised across 10 Southeast Asian countries.
✓English-taught programmes at major private and international universities.

Why Thailand

Three reasons to consider Thailand in 2026.

01 — Cost Floor

The lowest viable cost for an internationally recognised degree.

For Nigerian families where the cost of UK, Canadian, Australian, or even Eastern European fees is genuinely prohibitive, Thailand offers something the Western hemisphere cannot: an internationally accredited, English-medium degree at a total first-year cost that can be below ₦4 million. This is not for students targeting Goldman Sachs on graduation day — it is for students who need a quality degree at the minimum realistic cost.

02 — Hospitality and Tourism

One of the world's most experienced tourism economies.

Thailand's hospitality and tourism sector is one of the most developed in the world — and Thai university programmes in hotel management, tourism, and F&B are taught in the context of a genuinely world-class industry. For Nigerian students targeting international hospitality careers in Southeast Asia or the GCC, this is a meaningful educational environment.

03 — Asian Network

A launching pad into the ASEAN economy.

A Thai degree from a reputable institution opens doors in Southeast Asia — a regional economy of 680 million people with growing demand for business, technology, and healthcare professionals. For Nigerian students with an eye on an Asian career or business network, Thailand is an underexplored entry point.

Are Thai degrees internationally recognised?+

Degrees from major Thai universities — Chulalongkorn, Mahidol, NIDA, ABAC, Assumption University — are internationally recognised, particularly within ASEAN and the GCC. Recognition in Western markets varies by institution and programme. ZSR advises honestly on the recognition scope for each institution we recommend.

How much does it cost to study in Thailand from Nigeria?+

A realistic first-year budget is THB 270,000–520,000 (approximately £6,000–£11,500), covering tuition and living costs. This is significantly below all other ZSR destinations. At current exchange rates, the naira cost is approximately ₦3.1M–₦5.9M — the lowest in the ZSR network.

Can I work while studying in Thailand?+

Student visa holders are not generally permitted to work in Thailand. This is a significant constraint compared to most other ZSR destinations. Thailand is primarily suitable for students whose families can fund the full duration.

What's the visa process like for Nigerian students in Thailand?+

The ED (Education) visa is straightforward — applied at the Thai embassy with an admission letter and financial evidence. The 90-day reporting requirement (in-person at immigration) is the most administratively demanding aspect of studying in Thailand. ZSR briefs all Thailand-bound students on this before departure.
